SUBJECT: REAR CAM COVER SEALING

MODELS AFFECTED: 1982-1986 CIMARRON WITH LQ5 (VIN CODE P) 4 CYLINDER ENGINES

A new seal kit (P/N 10054590) for the rear cam cover is available for 1982-86 4 cylinder Cimarrons (VIN Code P). The kit contains a new cover (P/N 14090972) and gasket (P/N 14090974).

When installing this new cover and gasket, the sealing surface should be thoroughly cleaned and core plugs in this area checked to insure they are flush or below the surface of the block. Torque bolts to 8-14 N-m (6-10 ft.lbs.).

When using the original cover and R.T.V. sealant, torque the bolts to 5-7 N-m (4-5 ft.lbs.).

For warranty purposes, use Labor Operation J1660 at 3.0 hours (Manual Transmission), and 4.1 hours (Automatic Transmission).
