SUBJECT: FRONT BRAKE NOISE

MODELS AFFECTED: 1982-1986 CIMARRONS

Some 1982-1996 Cimarrons may exhibit a condition of front brake noise. All Cimarrons use semi-metalic brake linings. Semi-metalic linings have many advantages over asbestos linings, however, they also produce more noise than the asbestos linings used on previous model vehicles. If concerns of front brake noise is encountered on 1982-1986 Cimarrons, the front brake linings can be replaced with 1987 Cimarron linings, P/N 12321424. The 1987 lining is made of a different material. The lining edge code, which is stamped in the lining material on the outside curved edge, can be used to identify the new material. It should read "DM 128FE".

For warranty purposes, use Labor Operation H0042 at .7 hour.
