Removal and Replacement
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.2. Remove air intake duct from air cleaner, then the left fender brace.
3. Disconnect MAT sensor electrical connector at the air cleaner.
4. Disconnect mass air flow sensor electrical connector, then the PCV pipe clamp at the air intake duct.
5. Remove air intake duct from throttle body, then the mass air flow sensor attaching bolt
6. Remove air cleaner bracket attaching bolts at the battery tray, then the air cleaner mass air flow sensor and air intake duct as an assembly.
7. Disconnect T.V. cable at throttle body.
8. Remove T.V. cable attaching bolt from transaxle, pull up cable cover and disconnect cable from transaxle rod.
9. Disconnect heat shield at exhaust crossover pipe, then remove exhaust crossover pipe.
10. Install suitable engine support fixture, then remove transaxle mount and bracket assembly. It may be necessary to raise engine to facilitate removal.
11. Disconnect shift control linkage from transaxle.
12. Remove upper transaxle to engine attaching bolts, then loosen, but do not remove, the bolt nearest the starter.
13. Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheels.
14. Remove ball joint cotter pin, then loosen castle nut until ball joint separates from control arm.
15. Remove stabilizer bar to LH lower control arm attaching bolt
16. Remove six LH front suspension support assembly attaching bolts, then position axle shaft removal tools J-28468 and J-23907 behind axle shaft cones and pull cones away from transaxle.
17. Remove axle shafts and plug transaxle bores to prevent fluid leakage.
18. Remove transaxle control cable brackets to transaxle attaching nut, then the engine to transaxle stud.
19. Remove speedometer cable from transaxle, then the transaxle stabilizer at transaxle.
20. Remove torque converter shield, then the torque converter to flex plate attaching bolts.
21. Remove and plug transaxle cooler lines.
22. Remove starter, then loosen brake and fuel line brackets at LH. side of underbody.
23. Remove remaining transaxle to engine attaching bolts, then lower transaxle from vehicle.
24. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Follow the tightening sequence shown in image when installing the front suspension support assembly.
b. Readjust T.V. cable.
c. Check front suspension alignment.
