Door Switch Test

DOOR SWITCH TESTS

Door Switch Test - Part 1 Of 2:

1. Remove the connector from the theft deterrent controller and measure the voltage to ground at the terminals listed of the connector.
^ If all voltages are correct, proceed to step 2.
^ If battery voltage is not present at terminals G or M when the door lock switches are operated, check the switches and the wiring to the switches for an open. Door lock and forced entry switches may be tested individually. Remove the connector at the switch and check the continuity of the switch using an ohmmeter. Replace any switch that does not operate as shown in the schematic.
^ If voltage is present at all times, check the switches for shorts.
^ If voltage is present at terminal J, check the theft deterrent diode for a short.

Door Switch Test - Part 2 Of 2:

2. Measure the resistance to ground at the following terminals of the theft deterrent controller.
^ If all voltages in step 1 and resistances in step 2 are correct, but theft deterrent system does not operate, replace the theft deterrent controller.
^ If a resistance is not correct, check the switches and wiring for an open or short to ground.
^ If resistance at terminal J is incorrect when all doors are closed, make sure none of the forced entry switches are closed.
