TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS

Perform the following preliminary checks:

1. Check the five fuses and circuit breakers that power the system according to the following:
^ Test fuse 3 by operating multifunction chime.
^ Test fuse 16 by operating front cigar lighter.
^ Test fuse 11 by operating courtesy lights.
^ Test in line fuse A by making visual check.
^ Test in line fuse B by making visual check.
^ Test circuit breaker 24 by operating horn.

2. Check theft deterent relay and theft deterrent controller connectors.

3. Check that ground G106 is clean and tight.

4. Check that each door lock retainer is locked firmly to its cylinder.

5. Check theft deterrent diode.

6. If any fuse blows repeatedly, check the associated circuit and components for a short to ground.

^ If your symptom does not appear in the symptom table, do all of the tests.


POWER INPUT TEST

Power Input Test - Part 1 Of 2:

1. Remove the connector from the theft deterrent controller and measure the voltage at the terminals of the connector listed in the chart.
^ If all voltages are normal, but alarms or SECURITY light won't work, go to step 2.
^ If voltage from terminal N to ground is not correct, check in line fuse A and the BLK/YEL(2) wire for an open. If fuse A is blown, check the BLK/YEL wire for a short to ground. If wire is good, but fuse blows when theft deterrent connector is reconnected, replace the theft deterrent controller.
^ If voltages are incorrect at terminal K, check fuse 3 and the PNK/BLK(39) wire for an open.
^ If voltage is incorrect from terminals N to A, but is normal from terminal N to ground, check the BLK wire(150) for an open.
^ If battery voltage is not present at terminal D, check the security indicator bulb and the DK GRN(264) wire for an open. If indicator and wire are good, check fuse 16 and the ORN(40) wire for an open.
^ If voltage at terminal F to ground is incorrect, go to theft deterrent relay test.
^ If voltage at terminal E to ground is incorrect, go to starter interrupt relay test.

Power Input Test - Part 2 Of 2:

2. With the connector removed from the theft deterrent controller, connect a fused jumper between the following terminals of the connector and ground.
^ If horns, lights, and security indicator operate with jumper in place, but will not operate in vehicle, replace the theft deterrent controller.
^ If horns and lights don't operate with a jumper from terminal F to ground, go to theft deterrent relay test.
