Front Wheel Alignment
Camber and toe are the only adjustments normally required. After checking settings, perform adjustments in the following order: caster, camber and toe in.CASTER, ADJUST
Fig. 1 Caster adjustment:
1. Loosen, but do not remove, two of the three top strut mounting nuts covering the slotted mounting holes, Fig. 1.
2. Remove the third nut over the oval strut mounting hole and move the washer away from the mounting hole.
3. Raise vehicle by the body to separate the strut from inner wheel house.
4. Drill 11/32 inch holes at front and rear of oval strut mounting hole and file excess metal, Fig. 1.
5. Lower body and insert strut into proper position.
6. Set caster to specifications by moving top of strut forward or backward as needed.
7. Install mounting nut and washer. Torque all mounting nuts to 18 ft. lbs.
8. Recheck caster.
CAMBER, ADJUST
Fig. 2 Camber adjustment:
1. Loosen both strut to knuckle attaching nuts, Fig. 2.
2. Install camber adjusting tool J-29862.
3. Set camber to specifications.
4. Remove adjusting tool and torque strut to knuckle attaching nuts to 144 ft. lbs.
5. Recheck camber.
TOE, ADJUST
Fig. 3 Toe adjustments:
1. Loosen lock nuts on both inner tie rods, Fig. 3.
2. Adjust toe to specifications by rotating inner tie rod.
3. Torque lock nuts to 50 ft. lbs.
4. Recheck toe setting.
