Cabin Temperature Sensor / Switch: Description and Operation
In-vehicle sensor & aspirator:
On Deville and Fleetwood models, the in-vehicle temperature sensor is located behind the ``Cadillac'' emblem on the upper trim pad. On Eldorado and Seville models the in-vehicle temperature sensor is located in the left center instrument panel.
A small amount of air is drawn into the in-vehicle sensor housing and passed over the thermistor, providing accurate sensing of vehicle interior temperature, Fig. 3. This air movement is accomplished by an aspirator mounted on top of the heater and A/C assembly and a plastic hose that connects the in-vehicle sensor housing to the aspirator. A small portion of the main air stream within the heater and A/C assembly is discharged through the main outer tube of the aspirator. This exhausted air causes a suction at the end of the inner tube, drawing compartment air into the in-vehicle sensor housing where it then flows out of the inner tube at the aspirator.
