This Bulletin is an update on the information given in Bulletin 87-I-6, dated September, 1986.
OTC 2000
The OTC Monitor 2000 (Kent-Moore kit J-36000AC) will not read data from 1987 Cimarrons. An adapter cable is necessary to allow the tool to "interpret 8192 Baud high speed data." The tool, as provided in the GM Dedicated Diagnostic Set #3287, does not include this adapter. The cable is available separately through OTC or Kent-Moore as P/N OT-212-633.
SCAN TOOL ON DIGITAL CLUSTER CIMARRON
When a scan tool is used on 1985-1987 Cimarrons with digital clusters, display operation will be temporarily affected. The RPM, Volts and Coolant Temperature displays are calculated from an ECM data stream. Connection of scan tools may cause the ECM to alter this data stream, temporarily changing the display (on 1987 Cimarron, the affected displays will flash at about 2Hz). This condition is normal. Disconnecting the tool will return the display to normal operation.
