Chart 9 Improper Temperature Regulation

TEST DESCRIPTION
1. This step checks to see if improper temperature regulation is due to improper air mix door adjustment.
2. This step checks to see if improper temperature regulation is due to poor aspirator air flow. To check aspirator air flow, perform the following:
a. Engine running, select front defrost, HI blower.
b. Locate the aspirator inlet, under the front edge of I/P, left of the radio, and blow smoke or powder towards the opening.
c. If air flow is good, the smoke or powder will be sucked up the aspirator inlet.
3. This step checks the accuracy of the in-car temperature sensor.

AIR MIX DOOR ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE (4)
a. Remove glove box to gain access to programmer. "
b. Lift up on air mix door link to release it from the programmer arm.
c. Key "ON", select 90 AUTO on CCP and wait for programmer arm to stop moving.
d. Pull air mix door to max heat position.
e. With door at mechanical limit of travel (max heat) snap link back into programmer arm.
f. Visually check air mix door movement by selecting different temperature settings.
5. This step checks to see if door binding is due to the programmer dc motor or some other obstruction.
