Air Diverter Valve: Testing and Inspection
1. Check condition and routing of all lines. All lines must be secure without crimps or leaks.
2. Disconnect vacuum signal line at diverter valve, making sure vacuum is present at line opening.
3. With engine warmed to operating temperature and carburetor at curb idle, no air should be escaping through the diverter valve muffler. Manually open and close the throttle; a momentary blast of air should discharge through the diverter valve muffler for at least one second. If not, replace diverter valve.
