FIGURE 1 - STEERING STOP INSTALLATION:
SUBJECT: TIRE SCUFFING FRAME ON FULL TURNS
MODELS AFFECTED: 1984-1989 BROUGHAMS
Some 1984-1989 Broughams may exhibit a condition where the tire scuffs the frame or stabilizer shaft on full turns such as in parking lot maneuvers. The scuffing condition may be heard and/or felt. As the tire scuffs the frame or stabilizer shaft, it will leave a shiny spot on the area of contact. The sidewall of the tire may also show slight scuffing, however, the integrity of the tire is not affected.
To repair this condition install steering stops per the following procedure. Installation of the steering stops will increase the turning circle diameter by approximately three feet.
