Assemble

1. Thoroughly clean and blow dry control valve body and control valve components. Check components for damage and valves for free operation in their bores. Install all zinc coated flared coil pins with flared ends outward into control valve body and from machined surface on the control valve assembly. Install two black finish tapered coil pins which retain throttle valve and throttle valve bushing with tapered end first into control valve assembly. Coil pins do not fit flush with rough cast surface. Ensure all coil pins are flush with machined surface or damage to transmission will occur.

2. Check fourth clutch pressure switch for damage. Replace if necessary.

3. Position control valve body assembly as shown in Figure.

4. Into lower right bore, install throttle valve with smaller outside diameter end first into control valve body. Ensure valve is seated at bottom of bore. Install inner roll pin into throttle valve. Install T.V. spring into bore. Install throttle valve plunger, stem end first, into throttle valve plunger bushing and position assembly into bore. Install outer roll pin from rough cast surface side, aligning pin with slot in bushing.

5. Into next bore up, install TV. modulator downshift valve spring and T.V. modulator downshift valve with smaller chamfered stem end first into bore. Install bore plug with plug orifice facing outward and roll pin into bore.

6. Into next bore up, install T.V. modulator upshift valve spring and T.V. modulator upshift valve with smaller chamfered stem end first into bora Install bore plug with plug orifice facing outward and roll pin into bore.

7. Into next bore up, install 3-2 control valve with smaller stem end outward, 3-2 control valve spring and roll pin into bore.

8. Into next bore up, install line bias valve spring, line bias valve with smaller stem end first into bore. Install bore plug with plug orifice facing outward and roll pin into bore.

9. Into lower left bore, install accumulator bushing into bore, aligning pin slot in line with pin hole in control valve assembly. Install accumulator spring and accumulator valve with smaller end first into bore. Install bore plug with plug orifice facing outward and roll pin into bore.

10. Into next bore up, install 3-4 shift valve with chamfered end facing outward into bore. Install 3-4 throttle valve spring into 3-4 throttle valve bushing. Install 3-4 throttle valve with stem end first into 3-4 bushin9. Install 3-4 throttle valve and bushing into bore. Ensure pin slot is aligned with pin hole in control valve assembly. Install roll pin.

11. Into next bore up, install Lo/overrun clutch valve with smaller end first into bore. Install Lo/overrun clutch valve spring and spring retaining sleeve. Ensure retainin9 sleeve is level with or below machined surface. Install 4-3 control valve spring and 4-3 control valve with smaller stem end first into bore. Install bore plug with plug orifice facing outward and retaining sleeve from machined surface. Ensure sleeve is level with or below machined surface.

12. Into next bore up, install 1-2 shift valve with small stem outward into bore. Install 1-2 shift valve bushing with small inside diameter first into bore, aligning pin hole in bushing with inner pin hole in control valve assembly. Install inner roll pin. Install low first detent valve with long stem facing outward into bore. Install 1-2 throttle valve spring into 1-2 throttle valve bushing and 1-2 throttle valve with stem end first into bushing. Install components, valve end first, into bore. Align bushing so outer pin can be installed into pin slot Install outer roll pin.

13. Into next bore up, install converter clutch shift valve with short stem end first into bore. Install converter clutch throttle valve spring into converter clutch throttle bushing and converter clutch throttle valve with stem end first into bushing. Install components with valve end first into bore. Align bushing so pin can be installed into pin slot Install roll pin.

14. Into next bore up, install 2-3 shift valve with large end first into bore. Install 2-3 throttle valve spring into 2-3 throttle valve bushing and 2-3 throttle valve with stem end first into bushing. Install components with valve end first into bora Align bushing so pin can be installed into pin slot Install roll pin.

15. Install manual valve with inside detent lever pin orifice first into bore.
