SUBJECT: REVISED ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE FOR 3-4 ACCUMULATOR PISTON AND SPRING SERVICE INFORMATION MANUAL CORRECTION - THM200-4R

MODELS AFFECTED: 1986-1987 BROUGHAM

In 1986, a change was made which involved the order of assembly of the 3-4 accumulator piston and spring. Figure 200-4R-229 of the 1986 and 1987 Service Information Manuals does not show proper spring and piston orientation.

Starting in 1986, transmissions were assembled by inverting the piston and installing it first, followed by the spring. This change resulted in a firmer 3-4 shift feel versus the previous assembly procedure which produces a softer shift feel.

Change the Service Information Manuals so the "NOTE" in Figure 200-4R-229 reads the same as that in Figure 1.
