SUBJECT: ERRATIC DIGITAL FUEL GAGE READINGS

MODELS AFFECTED: 1985-86 DE VILLE/FLEETWOOD 1986 ELDORADO AND SEVILLE 1985-86 CIMARRON EQUIPPED WITH DIGITAL CLUSTER

Some 1985-86 De Villes, Fleetwoods, Cimarrons and 1986 Eldorados and Sevilles equipped with a digital fuel gage, may experience one of the following erratic fuel gage reading conditions:

1. The fuel gage will "count down" (decrease in one gallon increments) to a flashing "E" while having sufficient fuel in the tank.

NOTE: The Cimarron fuel remaining bars will disappear until the "low fuel" indicator illuminates with one bar remaining.

2. The fuel gage reads full at all times (1986 C, E, and K only).

To diagnose these conditions, refer to the following fault trees and then Chart "A" if replacement of the tank sending unit is required.
