SUBJECT: PARKING BRAKE PEDAL BUMPER SEPARATION

MODELS AFFECTED: 1985 - 1986 FWD DE VILLES AND FLEETWOODS

Some 1985 and 1986 front wheel drive De Villes and Fleetwoods may experience a condition in which the parking brake pedal bumper becomes separated from the parking brake pedal assembly. If this occurs, releasing the parking brake after separation of the pedal bumper may result in damage to the brake warning light switch causing the brake warning light to remain on continuously.

If this condition is encountered, install a new bumper, GMWDD P/N 25527682, as shown in Figure 1. Inspect the brake warning light switch on the pedal assembly for damage and replace the switch if required using P/N 1264464.
For warranty purposes, use labor operation T6131 at .2 hours for bumper replacement or T6132 at .3 hours for bumper and switch replacement.
