System Check

1. Follow the systems check to verify the complaint and to see if system is operating properly.

2. When a system check fails, refer to the appropriate diagnosis under SYSTEMS DIAGNOSIS.

3. When repairs are complete, redo the systems check to verify repair and proper operation.



NOTE: To reduce alarm noise, muffle the vehicle horns with rags. Put all windows fully down before testing. Verify that the power door lock system is operating properly before continuing.



SYSTEM CHECK

ARMING

1. Turn the ignition switch to RUN and then to OFF. Open the drivers door.
^ SECURITY SYSTEM indicator flashes.

2. With the driver's door open, move the door lock switch to LOCK.
^ SECURITY SYSTEM indicator stays on.

3. Close the door. (stay in the car.)
^ SECURITY SYSTEM indicator goes out. System is armed.

TEST ALARMS

1. Unlock the LH door manually and open the door
^ Horns pulse on and off.
^ Headlights and exterior lights flash on and off. All these devices cycle on and off approximately once a second for two to four minutes.

2. While alarms are operating, turn the ignition switch to START.
^ Starter does not operate.

DISARMING

1. Using the vehicle key, unlock the LH door.
^ Alarms stop.

2. Rearm the system using the RH door lock switch. Get out of the car before closeing the door to complete the arming sequence. Unlock the RH door with the key and open it.
^ No alarms sound. (The key unlock disarms the system.)

3. Rearm the system while remaining in the vehicle. Turn ignition switch to RUN. Unlock the LH door manually and open the door.
^ No alarms sound. Ignition switch turned to RUN also disarms the system.)

RESET AFTER ALARMS

1. Rearm the system. Unlock the RH door manually. Open the door and reclose it.
^ Alarms sound.

2. Unlock each door manually. Do not use the power door locks switch.
^ Security flasher goes off when last door is closed.
^ Theft deterent system is not armed.
^ Unlocking either door manually will not sound alarm.
