System Diagnosis
NOTE: Refer SYSTEMS CHECK in order to reference the proper diagnosis. Diagnostics for the symptoms listed in the following table are listed after the system diagnostic table. Charts refer to tests steps directly below the charts.
1. SYSTEM WILL NOT ARM
System Diagnosis Chart:
^ Remove dash panels so that the theft deterent module, theft deterent relay and in line fuse are accessible.
^ Remove the connectors from the module, and with a test lamp, check for voltage at the terminals indicated.
System Diagnosis Chart:
^ Using a self powered test lamp at the theft deterrent module connector, check for continuity at the indicated terminals in chart.
1. If one or more of the tests are incorrect, check the circuit wiring and components of that circuit.
2. If all the tests are correct, replace the theft deterrent module.
2. SYSTEM WILL NOT DISARM AFTER ARMING.
System Diagnosis Chart:
^ Remove dash panels so that the theft deterent module, theft deterent relay and in line fuse are accessible.
^ With a test lamp, check for voltage at the indicated terminals.
1. One or more tests are incorrect, check the circuit wiring and components to that terminal.
2. If all tests are correct, replace theft deterent module.
3. SYSTEM WILL NOT ALARM AFTER ARMING
System Diagnosis Chart:
^ First check that horns and headlights operate normally then complete system check 1, 2, and 3.
^ Remove dash panels so that the theft deterrent module, theft deterrent relay, and in line fuse are accessible.
^ With the connector removed from the theft deterrent module, use a test lamp at the indicated terminal.
^ If the test lamp lights, replace theft deterrent module.
^ If test lamp does not light, check BLK/WHT(265) wire for an open.
^ If BLK/WHT(265) wire is good, remove connector from the theft deterrent relay and check for voltage at the indicated terminals in chart below with a test lamp.
System Diagnosis Chart:
^ If test light does not light at RED wire terminal A, check the in line fuse and RED(2) wire.
^ If test lamp does not light at BLK/ORN wire terminal C, check PNK/BLK wire (692) for an open.
^ If all tests are correct, replace theft deterrent relay.
1. If all tests are correct, replace theft deterrent relay.
4. STARTER IS NOT DISABLED WHEN THE THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM IS ACTIVATED (horns and lights are activated.)
1. Remove dash panels so that the theft deterrent module, theft deterrent relay, and starter interrupt relay.
2. Turn the ignition switch to RUN and check pin E on the theft deterrent module with a test lamp to ground.
^ If the test lamp lights, replace theft deterrent module.
^ If the test lamp does not light, check pin 5 on the starter interrupt relay for battery voltage with a test lamp.
^ If the test lamp lights, check/repair DK BLU(206) wire.
^ If the test lamp does not light, check/repair PNK(3) wire.
^ If the PNK wire is good, replace the starter interrupt relay.
5. ENGINE DOES NOT CRANK, BUT THE ALARM SYSTEM IS WORKING PROPERLY
^ Refer to starter and charging systems diagnosis.
