General Description

Electronic Climate Control Panel:

Electronic Climate Control Panel

The climate control panel (CCP) is located in the instrument panel to the right of the steering column and consists of a keyboard and three digit vacuum fluorescent display. The CCP is in continuous two-way communication with the BCM during system operation. This communication process allows the BCM to transfer the proper information to the CCP for display while receiving any keyboard information that the vehicle operator may be depressing. This data transfer back and forth over a single wire is accomplished by alternating the direction of digital ``messages.'' The direction and timing of transferred ``messages'' is controlled by a ``clock'' signal sent by the BCM.

The red and blue push-button serve to decrease or increase the desired temperature in one degree steps between 65 and 85 degrees F. A continuous touch will cause a change in the selected temperature at the rate of two degrees per second until the button is released or the end of the scale is reached.

Settings of 60 and 90 degrees F are also available for maximum cooling or maximum heating. These settings are reached in one final five degree step whenever a setting is requested less than 65 or greater than 85 degrees F.
