Air Compressor, Replace
1986-87 Cadillac & 1985 Cadillac Exc. DeVille & Fleetwood
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Deflate system through service valve.
3. Disconnect electrical connectors from exhaust solenoid and compressor motor.
4. Disconnect air line from air dryer by rotating spring clip and carefully pulling off connector.
5. Remove two screws securing compressor bracket to radiator cradle on Brougham and DeVille or to wheelwell on Eldorado and Seville.
6. Remove compressor from vehicle.
7. Remove compressor mounting bracket by removing isolator mounting screws.
8. Reverse procedure to install. Moisten air line O-ring to facilitate assembly.
1986 Eldorado & Seville & 1986-87 Toronado
1. Partially raise car on frame contact hoist.
2. Remove compressor harness connector and dryer air tube.
3. Remove air inlet filter from underbody mounting.
4. Support right side of suspension crossmember assembly with a jackstand.
5. Remove suspension crossmember upper mounting bolt and forward arm bolt on right side only.
6. Raise car body slightly, allowing body to separate from suspension crossmember assembly. Do not raise body more than 5 inches.
7. Remove 2 compressor mounting bracket screws which attach bracket to crossmember.
8. Remove compressor and bracket from car as an assembly. Compressor may be removed between forward edge of crossmember assembly and underbody.
9. Remove bracket from assembly.
