SUBJECT: DOOR CHUCKING NOISE

MODELS AFFECTED: 1986-1988 ELDORADOS AND SEVILLES

FIGURE 1 - DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY:

Some 1986-1988 Eldorados and Sevilles may experience a condition of a chucking noise heard from any one of the doors when driving over bumps. This may be caused by excessive clearance between the door lock striker and the door lock assembly. A new striker bumper, located within the lock assembly, has been released to repair this condition. To repair this condition, you must replace the door lock assembly. Do not attempt to disassemble or repair the lock assembly.

Refer to section 5D of the General Motors Body Service Manual for the repair procedure.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operations B4260 (RF) or B4261 (LF) at .8 hour each, or B4660 (RR) or B4661 (LR) at .7 hour each with an add time of .4 hour for retainer replacement.
