Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Condition, Dealer Action, Vehicles Involved & Owner Notification

CONDITION

The possibility exists for the original equipment floormat to interfere with the accelerator pedal. Under certain circumstances, a mispositioned floormat could interfere with the accelerator pedal preventing the throttle from returning to the closed (idle) position when the accelerator pedal is released. Although the service brakes remain functional, loss of accelerator control could result in a vehicle crash without prior warning.

DEALER ACTION

To prevent this condition from occurring, dealers are required to replace BOTH front floormats on subject vehicles per the Vehicles Involved and Service Procedure sections of this bulletin.

VEHICLES INVOLVED

All 1936 Sevilles and Eldorados with original equipment floormats require this campaign. This represents standard Eldorados and Sevilles with option Code B-34 and ALL Eldorado Biarritz and Seville Elegante models. (Cadillac records indicate that a total of 37,481 vehicles are affected.)

OWNER NOTIFICATION

OWNERS OF VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS CAMPAIGN WILL BE NOTIFIED BY LETTER FROM CADILLAC MOTOR CAR DIVISION. A COPY OF THE OWNER LETTER IS ATTACHED.
