Removal and Replacement
1. Disconnect battery ground cable and remove air cleaner assembly.2. Disconnect and remove TV cable.
3. Remove cruise control servo.
4. Disconnect electrical connectors from distributor, oil pressure sending unit and transaxle.
5. Remove engine oil cooler line bracket.
6. Disconnect shift cable bracket and manual lever from transaxle, then secure cable, bracket and lever aside.
7. Remove fuel line bracket and disconnect neutral safety switch electrical connector.
8. Remove vacuum modulator.
9. Remove TV cable support bracket and remaining engine oil cooler line bracket.

10. Remove bellhousing bolts No. 2, 3, 4 and 6, Fig. 9.
11. Disconnect AIR crossover pipe fitting and reposition pipe.
12. Remove radiator hose bracket and fasteners securing transaxle mount to bracket.
13. Install engine support bracket J-28467 or equivalent, and note position of support hooks.
14. Raise and support vehicle and remove front wheels.
15. Remove left and right stabilizer link bolts, ball joint cotter pins and ball joint retaining nuts.
16. Support control arms using suitable jacks, then disconnect left and right ball joints using suitable puller.
17. Remove A/C compressor splash shield and No. 1 cradle mount cover.
18. Disconnect AIR pipe end hose connections and rear mounting clip.
19. Disconnect vacuum hoses and wire loom from front of cradle.
20. Remove fasteners securing engine mount, damper and transaxle mount to cradle and wire loom to transaxle bracket.
21. Lower vehicle, then raise transaxle two inches from position noted in step 13 using left support hooks of engine support fixture.
22. Raise and support vehicle.
23. Remove left side stabilizer mounting bolts and bolts joining cradle at right front and left rear corners.
24. Remove No. 1 cradle mount bolts, then separate cradle at right front corner, then remove left cradle section.
25. Disconnect AIR management valve bracket from transaxle mounting bracket and secure valve and bracket assembly to transaxle stud bolt.
26. Lower vehicle, then lower engine/transaxle assembly to position noted in step 13.
27. Remove transaxle mounting bracket.
28. Raise and support vehicle.
29. Remove bracket from right transaxle mount to transaxle and bolts securing engine/transaxle brace to transaxle.
30. Disconnect electrical connector from vehicle speed sensor.
31. Remove flex plate dust covers and bolts securing flex plate to torque converter.
32. Support transaxle with suitable jack, then remove bellhousing bolts No. 1 and 6, Fig. 9. To remove bolt No. 6, use suitable extension to gain access through right wheel house opening.
33. Disconnect cooler lines from transaxle, then plug lines and open fittings.
34. Install suitable drive axle boot seal protectors, separate drive axles from transaxle and secure axles aside. Care must be taken not to overextend drive axle pot joints, as joints will be damaged.
35. Separate and remove transaxle assembly.
36. Reverse procedure to install.
