Window Glass Retainer - Worn Rub Strips

SUBJECT: WINDOW REVEAL MOLDING REPLACEMENT DUE TO WORN GLASS RUB STRIP

MODELS AFFECTED: 1986-1988 SEVILLES

Some 1986-1988 Sevilles may experience a condition of worn rub strips in the front window glass retainers (i.e. channels) on the window reveal molding, refer to Figure 1. To repair this condition, the glass retainers (front and rear) are now available for replacement on the window reveal moldings. This eliminates the need to replace the window reveal molding for this condition.

Repair Procedure:

1. Remove the window reveal molding as described in Section 5D of the Body Service Manual.

2. Drill out the rivets that secure the glass retainers to the window reveal molding.

3. Position the new glass retainers on the window reveal molding and drill 1/8" diameter rivet holes in the glass retainers.

4. Install 1/8" rivets to secure the glass retainers to the window reveal molding.

5. Install the window reveal molding as described in Section 5D of the Body Service Manual.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operation T6294 (RH) and T6300 (LH) to replace the glass retainers at 1.2 hours for each door.
