SUBJECT: SEAL-SIDE DOOR LOCK PILLAR UPPER (MUCKET) REPLACEMENT

MODELS AFFECTED: 1987 ALLANTE

Some 1987 Allantes built prior to VIN 102397 may exhibit one of the following three conditions:

FIGURE 1 - SEAL (MUCKET) LOCATION:

FIGURE 2 - LOCATION OF WEAR:

^ Excessive wear of the mucket (see Figures 1 and 2).

FIGURE 3 - AREA OF MUCKET WHICH STICKS TO THE DOOR:

^ Mucket may stick to the door when it is opened and result in hard opening effort of the door (see Figure 3).

FIGURE 4 - INTERFERENCE BETWEEN GLASS FRAME AND MUCKET:

^ Soft-top 1/4 glass interferes with mucket. This will restrict the outboard movement of the 1/4 glass assembly (see Figure 4).
To repair this condition:

1.) Remove hardtop and lay it on a protected surface.
2.) Pull muckets off.
3.) Install new muckets, P/N 1645376 - RH, and 1645377 - LH.
4.) Reinstall hardtop.

For warranty purposes, use Labor Operation T6230 at .5 hour to replace both muckets.
