Because OSM # 7 is the only OSM with three address pins, it is possible, however rare, for OSM # 7 to lose power to two address pins and have the same address as either OSM # 2 or OSM # 4. When the Body Control Module (BCM) sends a command on the data line to OSM # 2 or OSM # 4. If such an addressing failure exists, a lighting fault results because two OSM's are responding to one BCM command. Also, when the BCM sends a command on the data line to OSM # 7, during such an addressing failure, a lighting fault results because there isn't an OSM available to respond to the command.
