SUBJECT: HARD TOP DRIP RAIL LEAK
MODELS AFFECTED: 1987-1989 ALLANTES
Some 1987-1989 Allantes may experience a water leak in the area of the hardtop side roof rail weatherstrip retainers. This leak may be caused by water getting under the drip rail seam and entering the car through the weatherstrip retainer screw holes. After removing the side roof rail interior trim, repair this condition using the following procedure:
1. Mask off the painted surfaces of the drip rail and roof panel to prevent damage.
IMPORTANT: Drip rail should be clean of all dirt and sealer.
2. Using a pick tool, carefully lift the inboard edge of the drip rail cosmetic tape.
3. Apply a bead of 3M Flex Clear, P/N 08401, or Kent 1 Wet/Dry Clear LC-C, PN 10500(32135), sealer along the entire length of the channel and brush under the lip of the cosmetic tape. Refer to Figure 1.

General Motors does not endorse, indicate any preference for, or assure any responsibility for the products from these firms or for any such items which may be available from other sources."
IMPORTANT: Crimp the mouth of the tube (Figure 2) so it fits inside the drip rail.
FIGURE 3 - APPLY SEALER:
4. Reinstall the cosmetic tape.
5. Apply a second bead of sealer along the length of the drip rail on top of the cosmetic tape and brush to the outboard side of the rail. Refer to Figure 3.
6. Use RM 900 Pre-Kleano solvent or equivalent to clean off excessive sealer.
7. Remove the protective tape from the roof and water test for a minimum of five minutes.
8. Reinstall interior trim.
