SUBJECT: LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THE OUTSIDE REARVIEW MIRROR HOUSING - ALLANTE

Some Allantes may experience a condition in which the outside rearview mirrors appear to be free to pivot with no fixed position. Allantes are delivered to dealers with the outside mirror housings folded against the doors and require locking before they are delivered to the owner. In addition, some Allante owners have inadvertently unlocked their mirror housings and are uninformed about their operation. To correct this condition, dealer personnel and owners need to be informed about outside rearview mirror housing positioning.

FIGURE 1 - MIRROR IN LOCKED POSITION:

To lock the outside rearview mirror housing in the fully extended position, push against the outer edge of the housing toward the front of the car with the palm of your hand until an audible "click" is heard. In the locked position, the inside face of the mirror head is flush with the mirror base (see Figure 1).

FIGURE 2 - MIRROR IN UNLOCKED POSITION:

To unlock the outside rearview mirror, place your palm on the outer edge of the mirror housing and bump the housing toward the rear of the vehicle (see Figure 2).
