Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

Location:

REMOVAL
1. Relieve coolant system pressure.
2. Remove negative battery cable.
3. Remove electrical connector.
4. Carefully back out coolant sensor.

CAUTION: Care must be taken when handling coolant sensor. Damage to coolant sensor will affect proper operation of the fuel injection system.

INSTALLATION
1. Coat sensor threads (only) with sealer P/N 1052080 or equivalent.
2. Install sensor in engine and torque to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).
3. Connect electrical connector.
4. Connect negative battery cable.
5. Refill lost coolant.

NOTE: Before starting engine, do the Idle Learn Procedure as follows:
1. Install Tech 1 Scan tool.
2. Ignition ON, engine OFF.
3. Select Intake Air Control (IAC) SYSTEM, then IDLE LEARN in the MISC TEST mode.
4. Proceed with idle learn as directed.
This procedure allows the Electronic Control Module (ECM) memory to be updated with the correct Idle Air Control (IAC) valve pintle position for the vehicle and provides for a stable idle speed.
