Positive Crankcase Ventilation: Service and Repair

The Positive Crankcase Ventilation ([1][2]PCV) system should be checked every 15,000 miles and also during regular engine tune-ups. If the PCV system includes a breather filter, located in the air cleaner housing, this filter should be replaced whenever the PCV valve or air cleaner is replaced. When a periodic inspection indicates the PCV valve is not functioning properly, it should be serviced by replacement only.
