AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Tools Required:
^ J-28467 Engine Support Fixture
^ J-34754 Drive Axle Seal Protectors

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Air cleaner assembly (Mass air flow and air intake duct).
3. T.V. cable at throttle lever and transaxle.
4. Fluid level indicator and fill tube.

5. Install J-28467 engine support fixture.
6. Insert 1/4" x 2" bolt in hole at front right motor mount to maintain driveline alignment.
7. Nut securing wiring harness to transaxle.
8. Wiring connectors at Speed sensor.
^ TCC connector.
^ Neutral start and back-up lamp switch (may be easier to reach when car is raised.)

IMPORTANT
^ When servicing requires that the "T" latch type wiring connector be disconnected from the switch, care must be taken to ensure proper reassembly of both the connector and the "T" latch. Failure to do so may result in intermittent loss of switch functions.

9. Shift linkage from transaxle.

14. Both tire and wheel assemblies.
15. Drain transaxle fluid.
16. Shift linkage and bracket from transaxle.
17. Both ball joints from control arms.

NOTICE: Drive axle seal protector J-34754 should be modified and installed on any drive axle prior to service procedures on or near the drive axle. Failure to observe this can result in seal damage and possible joint failure.

18. Both drive axles.

19. Transaxle mounting strut.
20. Left stabilizer shaft link pin bolt.
21. Left stabilizer shaft frame bushing clamp nuts.
22. Left frame support assembly.

24. Speedometer cable.
25. Starter.

26. Transaxle converter cover.

27. Torque converter to flywheel bolts.
^ Using a scribe, mark the flywheel to torque converter relationship to assure proper reassembly.

28. Transaxle cooler pipes. Plug to prevent leakage.

29. Transaxle to engine support bracket.
30. Position transaxle jack.
31. Remaining engine to transaxle bolts.
32. Transaxle.
