SUBJECT: HESITATION ON ACCELERATION

MODELS AFFECTED: 1987 DE VILLE AND FLEETWOOD

Some 1987 De Villes and Fleetwoods built before VIN 264834 may experience a tip in hesitation condition during light acceleration from a stop in temperatures above 75~F.

This condition may be caused by an ECM PROM with an I.D. of 272 (Federal) or 267 (California). The ECM PROM I.D. can be checked by entering diagnostics and selecting ECM parameter P.1.6 as described in Section 8D of the 1986 Final Edition De Ville/Fleetwood Service Information Manual.

To repair this condition, replace the ECM PROM with the appropriate part number listed below.
