SUBJECT: SQUAWKING NOISE ON ACCELERATION AND BRAKING
MODELS AFFECTED: 1987 DE VILLES AND FLEETWOODS WITH STANDARD SUSPENSIONS
Some 1987 De Villes and Fleetwoods with standard suspensions built before VIN 285541 may experience a squawk or squeak noise from the floorboard or front suspension area on acceleration from a stop and/or during braking. This condition may be caused by movement between the #3 cradle mount spacer and the body. This condition can be repaired by installing a revised cradle mount and spacer assembly in the #3 position. Both right and left side #3 mounts must be replaced.

To repair this condition, use the following service procedure:
1. Raise vehicle.
2. Install jackstands to support frame.
3. Remove three nuts from the #3 mount insulator (refer to Figure 1).
4. Remove bolt and insulator.
5. Remove spacer.
6. Install a new #3 mount using the following parts:

Upper Insulator 14010478 2
Lower Insulator 25525871 2
Retainer 14002113 2
Bolt (or use existing) 25526904 2
7. Install spacer and upper cushion. Do not use lubricant to assemble mount.
8. Install lower cushion, retainer and bolt. Torque bolt to 100 N-m (74 ft.lbs.).
9. Repeat procedure for other side.
10. Remove jackstands.
11. Lower vehicle.
For warranty purposes, use Labor Operation T6207 at .7 hours.
