SUBJECT: A LOUD "POP" OVER THE BOSE SPEAKERS WHEN TURNING ON THE CADILLAC CELLULAR TELEPHONE

MODELS AFFECTED: 1987-1988 DE VILLES AND FLEETWOODS

Some 1987-1988 DeVilles and Fleetwoods, built prior to 1988 VIN Breakpoint 248670, equipped with the Bose radio sound system and the Cadillac cellular telephone may experience a loud "pop" over the Bose speakers when turning on the cellular telephone or whenever the audio switches from the radio to the telephone and back again.

To eliminate this "pop", a capacitor has been added to the radio mute module.

To repair this condition, check the service part number of the radio mute module (printed on a sticker located on the housing). If the number is 16055196, replace the module with service part number 16120736.
