Some 1987 Eldorados and Sevilles equipped with the ETR radio system (non-Bose) may experience unusual fader control operation. Volume from all four speakers may be present when the fader control is moved all the way to the "front" or "rear" position and no speaker volume when set in the middle position.

Eldorado - HU600001 through HU610964
Seville - HU800001 through HU808810

This condition may be due to the cross-car radio harness being miswired. To correct this condition, it may be necessary to re-pin the eight-way radio connector and the eight-way crosscar connector that it connects with according to the following procedure.

1. Disconnect the battery.

Figure 1 - Harness Locations:

2. Access and disconnect cross-car to radio harness connection located within the center console. See Figure 1.

3. Back-out the terminal pins in the cross-car connector and reinstall them in the following manner:

a. Move circuit 200, a light green wire, from cavity H to cavity G.
b. Move circuit 117, a dark green wire, from cavity G to cavity C.
c. Move circuit 46, a dark blue wire, from cavity C to cavity H.
d. Move circuit 116, a yellow wire, from cavity B to cavity E.
e. Move circuit 118, a grey wire, from cavity E to cavity F.
f. Move circuit 201, a tan wire, from cavity F to cavity B.

The finished pin-out in the connector should be:

Cavity Circuit Color

A 199 Brown
B 201 Tan
C 117 Dark Green
D 115 Light Blue
E 116 Yellow
F 118 Grey
G 200 Light Green
H 46 Dark Blue
