SUBJECT WIND NOISE - REAR DOOR STATIONARY VENT GLASS

MODELS AFFECTED: 1986-1990 SEVILLES

Some 1986-1990 Sevilles may experience an objectionable wind noise at the rear of the stationary vent glass due to inconsistencies in the sealing surface. This condition was corrected in production at VIN breakpoint LU811792 in the 1990 model year. A nitrile foam section was added to the glass run channel.

Figure 1 - Apply Silicon Sealant:

To repair this condition on vehicles before the breakpoint, use the following procedure:

1. Apply silicon sealant, P/N 1052915, under lip of rear door glass run channel of the stationary glass. Refer to Figure 1, Item 1.

2. Apply a sealing strip of Kent Products half round 1/4" foam/rubber, P/N 40330 or equivalent, and force up under lip of rear door glass run channel of the stationary glass. Refer to Figure 1, Item 2. (Kent Products 1-800-344-8855.)

Figure 2 - Cut Excess Sealing Strip:

3. Cut excess sealing strip. Refer to Figure 2.
4. Clean glass of excess silicon lubricant.

5. Repeat the above operation on opposite side rear door of the vehicle.
