Water Pump Replacement

WATER PUMP

Water Pump Assembly:

Water Pump Fasteners:

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Drain coolant.
3. A.I.R. filter assembly.
4. Cross car brace.
5. Coolant recovery tank.
6. Water pump pulley. Apply tension to drive belt to keep pulley from rotating by forcing belt tensioner into drive belt with breaker bar.
7. Accessory drive belt.
8. Water pump.
Water pump gasket and discard.

CLEAN
^ Water pump and engine front cover sealing surfaces.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. New water pump gasket on front cover studs.
2. Water pump.

TIGHTEN
^ All water pump fasteners to specifications.

3. Water pump pulley and install screws finger tight.
4. Accessory drive belt.
5. Tighten 3 water pump pulley bolts to 30 Nm (22 ft lbs) using drag of drive belt to hold pulley. If additional drag is needed, attach breaker bar to belt tensioner and apply load to belt while tightening pulley bolts.
6. Cross car brace.
7. A.I.R. filter assembly.
8. Fill Cooling system.
9. Negative battery cable.
