Output

Fig. 6 ECM output display chart:

If ``--'' message appears when trying to test device, device must be tested with engine off.
When troubleshooting a system malfunction, the output display can be used to determine if the output tests can be actuated regardless of the inputs and normal program instructions.
With the ECM message displayed on the panel as outlined above, depress the Hi, then the Lo button twice. This will allow the technician to bypass ECM data and inputs and proceed directly to ECM outputs. Selection of the ``Output'' test type will result in the first available test being displayed. When a test has been selected, ``HI'' and ``LO'' will be illuminated for three seconds in each state to indicate the command and output terminal voltage. Four characters of the display will contain a test code to identify the selection. The first two characters are letters which identify the system and test type. The last two characters are numerals which identify the test itself (Example: EO01). Depressing the Hi button will display the next largest test number for the selected test type, while depressing the Lo button will display the next smaller test number for the selected test. Depressing the Off button will stop the test selection process and return the display to the next available test type for the selected system (Example: ECM Clear Codes). Available output displayed are shown in Fig. 6.
