Some 440-T4 transaxles may experience a loss of drive and/or reverse which may be constant or intermittent, hot or cold. This condition should not be confused with delayed engagement which occurs on the first attempt to engage drive or reverse. The loss of drive condition may be caused by the input sprag clutch assembly even with normal line pressures.
This condition may be repaired by installing a new design, wider sprag clutch and related parts. 1986-1987 models built after April 1, 1986 (Julian Date 091) or a SRTA model after May 1, 1986 (Julian Date 121, see Figures 1 and 2), contain the new design wide sprag clutch and related parts. Refer to the following chart of required parts for servicing before and after number units.

For warranty purposes, use T6193 for 7.2 hours.
