Input E.7.6 - Cruise Set/Coast Circuit
ECM Input E.7.6:
DFI Cruise Control Circuit:
DESCRIPTION:
The ECM Cruise "Set/Coast" circuit is a normally open switch that provides a 12 volt "Set/Coast" signal to the ECM on terminal B4 when depressed. When the cruise dash switch is in the "ON" position, the cruise dash switch provides 12 volts to the cruise steering column switch on pin E2, CKT 397. When the Set/Coast button is depressed, the steering column switch pin E2 is connected to pin E3, CKT 84, providing the ECM with a 12 volt Set/Coast input on terminal B4.
NOTE ON INTERMITTENTS:
To diagnose an intermittent Set/Coast function, turn the cruise dash switch to "ON" and backprobe the ECM B4 with a voltmeter to ground. B4 should show 12 volts with Set/Coast depressed and 0 volts with Set/Coast released. Cycle the switch while observing the meter; manipulate wiring and connectors.
