Snapshot

DESCRIPTION:

This is used to diagnose intermittent conditions. This feature captures all parameter values that were stored in the keep alive memory when a code was set. If more than one code sets, the values associated with the last code will be stored with an "L" prefix (i.e. L.0.1 or L.0.2 etc.). To verify a failure condition, using the Snap-Shot information, follow the proceeding steps:

1. Enter the snap-shot mode by depressing the "ECON" and "COOLER" buttons at the same time when the ECM data indication is displayed (E.9.0). When the intermittent condition occurs, or when the parameters are to be recorded, press "HI" and hold until the message "ECM Snap-shot Taken" appears. The "ECM Snapshot Taken" message indicates that the data is now stored for review.

2. Look at the first parameter and determine which stored code is associated with it.

3. Review the parameter(s) that are related to a given code. This will verify the failure condition. For example, if a code E15 is stored, (open coolant sensor circuit), review L.0.4, (coolant temperature) and look for a reading of -38 or less.

4. If the condition is verified, inspect wiring and connectors for being loose, dirty, or poorly seated. If no trouble is found, substitute a known, good functioning sensor and retest the vehicle.
