Seats - Erratic Memory Operation

Bulletin No. T-89-3
File in Group 8
Number 83
Corp. Ref. No. 818203
Date Sept. 1988
SUBJECT: ERRATIC MEMORY SEAT OPERATION

MODELS AFFECTED: 1985-1988 DE VILLES AND FLEETWOODS

Some 1985-1988 DeVilles and Fleetwoods equipped with memory seats may experience a condition of the seats not moving to the programmed seat position. This will occur in both memory 1 and memory 2 settings. This condition may be caused by a power seat motor sending a "noisy" signal to the memory seat module, which will result in any one of the three power seat motors losing or gaining distance with each successive use of the memory.

To repair this condition replace the motor assembly, P/N 20560003. Refer to Section 9C of the appropriate Body Service Manual for the replacement procedure.

Parts are expected to be available on September 12, 1988. Until then, normal part orders will not be accepted by GMSPO. Only verifiable emergency VIP orders will be accepted. SPO will make every effort to obtain parts. All parts will be placed on 400 control to waive VIP surcharges. However, the part will be shipped premium transportation at dealer's expense. All other order types will be cancelled as incorrectly ordered while the 400 control is in place.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operation N3351 at .6 hour.
