SUBJECT: SERVICE INFORMATION MANUAL UPDATE - SECTION 5E ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM
This bulletin is being reprinted because the models affected were not specified. Please discard DSIB 90-I-50.
Please update your 1989-1990 DeVille and Fleetwood Service Information Manuals, Section 5E, to include the following procedure to remove and inspect the proportioner valve.
PROPORTIONER VALVE
Remove or Disconnect:
1. Depressurize hydraulic accumulator. Refer to "Depressurizing Hydraulic Accumulator" in this section.
CAUTION: Failure to depressurize the hydraulic accumulator prior to performing this operation may result in personal injury and/or damage to painted surfaces. Refer to CAUTION on page 5E-1.
2. Raise vehicle. Refer to "General Information" in Section 0A.
3. Brake feed line from proportioner valve and plug.
4. Outlet pipes to rear wheels and plug.
5. Proportioner valve.
Figure 1 - Adjust Brake Line Clearances:
Install or Connect:
1. Proportioner valve to outlet pipe.
2. Brake feed line to proportioner valve. Adjust brake line clearances per Figure 1. Tighten brake lines to 15 N-m (11 lb.ft.).
3. Fill fluid reservoir. Refer to "Checking and Filling Brake Fluid" in this section.
4. Bleed brake system. Refer to "Bleeding Brake System" in this section.
