SUBJECT: EXCESSIVE GAP BETWEEN INSTRUMENT PANEL UPPER TRIM PAD AND INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY (BELOW LEFT HAND A/C OUTLET)
MODELS AFFECTED: 1989 DE VILLES AND FLEETWOODS EQUIPPED WITH SUPPLEMENTAL INFLATABLE RESTRAINT (OPTION AJ3)
Some 1989 DeVilles and Fleetwoods equipped with Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) may experience a condition of excessive gap below the left hand A/C outlet between the instrument panel upper trim pad and instrument panel assembly.
To repair the gap between the left side upper trim panel and instrument panel assembly use the following procedure:
1. Remove upper trim pad. Refer to appropriate Service Information Manual.

2. Install push-in nut, P/N 1355003, to instrument panel assembly at side attachment point. Refer to Figure 1.
3. Reinstall upper trim pad per service procedure EXCEPT use bolt/screw P/N 20365259 in place of 11500677 at left attachment location only. Refer to Figure 1.
