FIGURE 1 - ANTENNA COAXIAL CABLE FEMALE TERMINAL TEST AND REPAIR PROCEDURE:

SUBJECT: POOR AM OR FM RADIO RECEPTION

MODELS AFFECTED: 1989 DE VILLES, FLEETWOODS, BROUGHAMS, ELDORADOS, SEVILLES AND ALLANTES

Some 1989 Cadillac models may exhibit a condition of poor AM or FM radio reception. This may be caused by a poor contact on the female terminal of the antenna coaxial cable lead.

Figure 1 shows a four-step procedure to test and repair the female terminal. The opening in the female terminal should range from .120" to .125" in diameter. A .125" pin gage should have some resistance to passing through the female terminal. If the gage passes through freely, the terminal should be repaired as illustrated. Gage sets are available from Kent-Moore using tool number J-26900-14.
