E073
Code E073:
Sensor Wiring Diagram:
DESCRIPTION:
This diagnostic test monitors the coolant temperature. If there is a large change in coolant temperature in a short period of time, the code will set. Engine operation causes coolant temperatures to change at slow rates.
TEST CONDITIONS:
1. 2 seconds have passed since ignition switch has been turned to the ON position.
2. 2 seconds have passed since the coolant temperature has reached 50°C.
FAILURE CONDITIONS:
1. Coolant temperature has changed 11°C in 1 second.
ACTION TAKEN:
1. Code E073 sets.
NOTES ON FAULT TREE:
1. If the voltage does not shift when coolant temperature shifts above or below 50°C the PCM is not functioning properly.
NOTE ON INTERMITTENTS:
Manipulate circuit 410 and 1076 wiring, coolant sensor connector, and PCM connector while observing PCM data ED04 (or scan tool display). If a failure is induced the data will decrease and voltage will increase for an open circuit, or data will increase for data and voltage will decrease for a short to ground. Remove and reinstall the coolant sensor and PCM connectors to ensure that they are latched. Code snapshot data can provide comparative information if code E073 data is available.
