Evaporator Core: Service and Repair
EVAPORATOR COREA/C Module/Evaporator Lines:
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Cross-tower support brace (one bolt each side).
2. Upper intake manifold.
3. Power module.
A. Three module retaining screws
B. Two electrical connectors.
4. Evaporator line block fitting bolt, detach inlet and outlet lines from evaporator.
5. Wire harness tie strap near evaporator line fitting.
6. Blower motor.
7. Heat shield (two screws).
8. Six large evaporator module noise barrier cover screws.
9. Five small module noise barrier cover screws.
10. Three small barrier clips.
11. Plastic barrier cover and seal gasket.
12. Evaporator core retaining screw and evaporator from vehicle.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Evaporator core to case, secure with one screw.
2. Plastic barrier cover and a new seal gasket. Secure cover with three clips and eleven screws.
TIGHTEN
^ Evaporator cover retaining screws to 3 Nm (27 lb. in.).
3. Heat shield (two screws).
4. Blower motor.
5. Wire harness tie strap near evaporator line fitting.
6. Evaporator line fitting to evaporator, secure with one bolt. Install new 0-rings. coating them with 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.
NOTICE: When making line connections use care to avoid nicking the 0-rings or cross-threading the connections.
TIGHTEN
^ Evaporator line fitting bolt to 17 Nm (13 lb. ft.).
7. Power module.
A. Three module retaining screws.
B. Two electrical connectors.
8. Upper intake manifold.
9. Cross-tower support brace (one bolt each side).
^ Evacuate and charge ECC system.
^ Leak test all refrigerant connections.
