A-4 Addressing Problem

Chart A-4:

OSM Adress Error:

DESCRIPTION:

Code L204 and L205 or L204 and L206 indicate a loss of power to an OSM address pin. When such an addressing failure exists on pin F of OSM #5 or pin E of OSM #6, its address becomes the same as that of OSM #4. Therefore, when the BCM sends a command on the data line to OSM #4, both OSM #4 and the mis-addressed OSM both respond resulting in a lighting fault. When the BCM sends a command to the mis-addressed OSM, there isn't an OSM available to respond resulting in a lighting fault. The table below lists the CCDIC messages and symptoms of these conditions.

CCDIC MESSAGES:

L204 AND L205:
1. Center Brake Lamp Out
2. Right and Left Back-Up and License Lamps Out
3. Right and Left Door Courtesy Lamps Out
4. Dash/Stow Courtesy Lamps out

L204 AND L206:
1. Right Turn/Tail and Back-Up Lamps Out
2. Left Back-Up Lamp Out
3. Center High Mounted Stop Lamp Out
4. Rear Side Markers and License Lamp Out

SYMPTOMS:

L204 AND L205:
1. Dash/stow courtesy lamps do not come on when door is opened nor with LSP switch.
2. Center high mounted brake lamp, back-up lamps, rear side markers and license lamp inoperative.

L204 AND L206:
1. Right and left turn signal and hazard indicators do not flash.
2. Right tail lamps appear normal due to light traveling in tail lamp assembly. However, close inspection reveals that two stop/turn/tail lamps are out.
