SUBJECT: CLEARING CURRENT SIR CODE 51 (ACCIDENT DETECTED) ON 1990-1991 ALLANTES
A current code 51 cannot be cleared using on-board diagnostics. The Tech 1 scan tool and cartridge, 87-90 ECM "PLUS" (P/N TK02050B), are essential for SIR and required to clear a code 51.
The option for clearing code 51 on a 1990-1991 Allante, however, is not located under the Allante menu options. In order to clear a current code 51 on a 1990 or 1991 Allante, it is necessary to follow "E/K-CAR" menu options. The following chart represents 87-90 ECM "PLUS" display screens and appropriate user responses necessary to clear a current code 51.
