Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

Exhaust System Components:

CATALYTIC CONVERTER


REMOVE OR DISCONNECT

1. Raise vehicle and support catalytic converter.

2. Intermediate pipe to converter clamp and O-ring hangars.

3. Exhaust manifold rear pipe flange bolts / springs.

4. Converter.


INSTALL OR CONNECT

1. Converter. Position intermediate pipe for needed clearance during converter installation.

2. Exhaust manifold rear pipe to converter seal.

3. Exhaust manifold rear pipe flange bolts/springs.

4. Guillotine-type clamp.

5. Intermediate pipe bracket and O-ring hangars

TIGHTEN

^ Rear pipe flange bolts to 12 N-m (9 lbs. ft.).
^ Clamp nuts to 35 N-m (26 lbs. ft.).
