Power Steering Pressure Switch: Description and Operation
Power Steering Pressure Switch:
Sensor Wiring Diagram:
The Power Steering Pressure Sensor (PSPS) is mounted in the steering gear and senses steering gear pressure. The sensor receives a 5.0 volt reference input from the PCM. The sensor will provide a variable voltage output to the PCM based upon steering gear line pressure. The PCM uses the sensor output to extend the idle speed control motor during high power steering pressure loads to help maintain a stable idle. The PCM checks the output of the sensor at key "ON" and compares it to an expected value. PCM code E040 will set if the expected value is not seen at key "ON".
